2012 in a review – music.

This year I have been listening a lot of music. It’s been an excellent year for all music lovers addicted to all different kinds of sound. Even if I mostly enjoy hardcore and metal bands, I have noticed a lot of good staff from hip hop and pop industry. There were a lot of catchy songs in January and that good stream was being continued through the year. I explored new artists, got a bit disappointed by well-known others and felt amazed by awesomeness of my favourite band. Every album I put my hands on gave me so many emotions, that few things are only able to do. Hopefully 2013 music will be at least halfway intense as in 2012.

London after Neurosis.

Today a small photodiary from our last visit in London. All photos were taken on the second day, after amazing Neurosis concert.

Neurosis - live in London

On 2nd December we went for a quick trip to London, just to see one of the heavy music legends – Neurosis. I must say that I’ve never been a maniac fan of them, the only album I really used to know was “The Eye of Every Storm” (what a shame, I know). I found about it when I was 17 – my cousin bought it and I was attracted by its cover. And later I realized that music was also very unusual compared to my taste that time. So disquieting, dreary, but also compelling. I have been listening that album every now and then, but still without diving into their whole discography. But in November they released new work entitled ‘Honor Found in Decay’. It’s not their best album, but I truly love it. ‘At the well’ gives me thrills, and whole album looks like made specially for rainy, cold autumn. So when we found out about exclusive concert in UK this year, we couldn’t resist, even it was actually before the premiere of the record.

Dziś, po długiej przerwie post muzyczny. Miałam pisać o czymś innym, ale o tym następnym razem. Przełom listopada i grudnia koncertowo wynagrodził mi szarą rzeczywistość, jaką jest życie i nieciekawa praca kilkanaście kilometrów od centrum Manchesteru. Nie chcę w tym momencie narzekać, ale mieszkanie w dziurze niedaleko Manchesteru to nie to samo, co życie w Manchesterze, dlatego niedługo w tej kwestii nastąpią tak upragnione przeze mnie zmiany. Nawet jeśli będzie do przeprowadzka w ciemno. Ale wracając do tematu…

Paris - day 3

Kolejna porcja zdjęć z Paryża. Tym razem odwiedziliśmy dwa słynne miejsca: Musée d'Orsay i Centre Pompidou.

Paris - day 2

Kolejne dwa dni w Paryżu upłynęły pod hasłem „Moje nogiiiiii…. Padam!”. Świadomi naszych 100% zniżek do muzeów i tego, że raczej ponownie przed 26. urodzinami tu nie zawitamy, nie mogliśmy odpuścić żadnego ze znanych centrów sztuki. Oczywiście, na czas pobytu w stolicy Francji kupiliśmy 5-dniowe bilety Paris Visite, jednak przesiadanie się z jednej stacji metra na drugą – pokonywanie niezliczonej ilości bramek, schodów i tuneli – potrafi nieźle zmęczyć. Na szczęście paryskie metro działa sprawnie i w każde miejsce można bez trudu dojechać.

Our next days in Paris were both amazing and exhausting. Remembering about our free admissions and realising that we probably won’t return here again before our 26. birthdays, we couldn’t avoid any of famous museums. Of course, we bought 5-days tickets to use Parisian underground all the time, but changing stops – with all gates, stairs and tunnels – can make you tired very fast. At the end of each day we couldn’t feel our legs. But I must say, that the underground works very efficient, so you can go to any place without problems. 

A short trip to Paris - day 1

O podróży do Paryża marzyłam chyba od zawsze. Wydaje mi się, że to jedno z tych miejsc na mapie Europy, które każdy chce zobaczyć. Myśli o tym, że musimy tam jechać zaczęły się konkretyzować po tym, jak 2-3 lata temu wyczytałam gdzieś, że osoby do 25. roku życia włącznie mają do większości muzeów darmowy wstęp. Dla budżetowego turysty jak ja taka informacja ma niemałe znaczenie, tym bardziej, że czas biegnie nieubłaganie i za rok takie przywileje niestety nie będą nas już dotyczyć ;) A wiadomo, że Paryż do tanich miast nie należy. Czekałam więc na odpowiedni moment (tzn. promocję), żeby w końcu tam się wybrać. I taka okazja spadła nam znienacka w kwietniu – bez wahania i z trzęsącymi rękami udało mi się zarezerwować bilety Megabusa (anglosaski odpowiednik Polskiego Busa) na trasie Manchester-London-Paris za 1 (jednego) funta od osoby! Nigdy nie podróżowałam tak tanio, nawet nasza podróż do Sztokholmu za 60 zł blednie przy 4 funtach wydanych na autokar do Paryża. I nawet wizja 15-godzinnej podróży nie zmąciła naszej radości.

I have been always thinking about going to Paris. In my opinion it’s one of those places on a map of Europe that everyone wants to see. My thoughts about this trip have started to be serious when I read 2-3 years ago that people under 25 years old (inclusive) have free admission to most of museums. I always plan my travels as low-cost as possible so for me it was a very important information especially because I am 25 now. Paris is obviously not a cheap city, so I have been waiting for good occasion to buy tickets. And then, suddenly in April I managed to book with me shaking hands tickets for only 1 pound from Manchester to Paris (via London), thanks to great bargain on Megabus.com website. I paid less (only 4 pounds!) than for my trip to Stockholm in 2011, which cost me about 15 pounds for 2 people then.

Witam. Doskonale daję sobie sprawę, że teraz (prawie) każdy pisze bloga – jednym wychodzi to lepiej, drugim gorzej. Jedni piszą posty dla przyjemności, inni dlatego, że taka jest ich praca. Część osób na tym zarabia, inni nie. A ten blog powstał po to, żeby zaspokoić moją potrzebę pisania ;) Parę lat temu miałam okazję pracować w lokalnych mediach i dziś z perspektywy czasu stwierdzam, że to jest coś czego w obecnej sytuacji życiowej (tak to nazwijmy) mi brakuje. Uprzedzam - nie będzie to blog o modzie, choć parę takich blogów lubię. Będzie za to trochę o podróżach, fotografii, muzyce i tym, co uważam za ciekawe. Uwaga! Nikogo nie zmuszam do czytania! ;)

Welcome to my blog! I know that nowadays almost everyone is blogging – some people are very good at it, some people unfortunately not. A part of them writes for pleasure, other treat it as a job. Some of them even earn money doing it. And I have created this blog to satisfy my need of writing. Some years ago I used to work as a journalist/reporter for local media, and I have found that it’s something that I need in my life again. Just to tell you – I’m not going to blog about fashion as many people do, although I like a few of them, especially for their streetstyle photography. Instead, you can expect some words about travels, photography, music and other things, which I am interested in. Attention! I do NOT force anyone to read this blog. But anyway, enjoy! ;)
