La Défense

To chyba już ostatni post z Paryża, żeby więcej na ten temat nie przynudzać ;)

I think it’s the last post about Paris, because it is getting pretty boring;)

Dziś relacja z jednego miejsca, mianowicie dzielnicy La Défense, położonej na zachód od centrum Paryża. To pierwsza (bądź, jak kto woli, ostatnia) stacja 1. linii metra, to także centrum biznesowe stolicy, jak i całej Francji. Gdy opuścimy podziemia metra, nagle uderza nas całkowicie inny krajobraz, pełen drapaczy chmur, nowoczesnych budynków, stworzonych z ogromnych ilości szkła i betonu. Można mieć wątpliwości, czy wciąż jesteśmy w tym samym Paryżu, który przez kilka dni zachwycał nas swoją klasyczną architekturą i romantycznym nastrojem. Nawet Łuk Triumfalny ma tu swój futurystyczny odpowiednik - La Grande Arche de La Défense, który robi niesamowite wrażenie. Mi osobiście całe miejsce strasznie się podobało, uwielbiam wysokie budynki, dlatego też pewnego dnia znajdę się w Nowym Jorku ;)

Today I want to show you pictures from one place - La Défense district, located in the west part of Paris. It is a first stop (or the last one, if you prefer) for underground line no. 1, it’s also a main business centre for Paris and entire France. When we get off the subway, suddenly we experience an absolute different landscape, full of skyscrapers, modern buildings made with glass concrete. You can have some doubts wondering, if you are still in the same Paris, which already has delighted you with its classic architecture and romantic mood. Even the Arc de Triomphe has its futuristic equivalent here - La Grande Arche de La Défense, which is really impressing. I liked the whole place a lot, because I love high buildings. That’s why one day I will go to New York City for sure ;)

Ciekawy jest fakt, że siedząc na schodach Wielkiego Łuku na wprost można dostrzec Łuk Triumfalny. Wynika to z tego, że  La Grande Arche de La Défense stoi na linii przedłużającej tzw. Paryską Oś Historyczną, która zaczyna się od Luwru a kończy na wspomnianym Arc de Triomphe.

When you're sitting on steps under the Grande Arche, you can see Arc de Triomphe from afar. It's because La Grande Arche de La Défense is situated on a line of the Paris Historical Axis, which starts at the Louvre and continues along the Champs-Élysées, till aforesaid the Arc de Triomphe.
